My first project of the year are these two cards that I have created for Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights!
The theme, as always, is Thank You

I've selected patterned paper with muted colours so that these cards could be suitable for those who perhaps don't like pastel or bright colours
My first card predominantly features the colour Gray Granite. The card base has been completely covered with Peony Garden Designer Series Paper - there is a feint pattern to it (you'll see it better in the image below).
I have added a circle (die cut from the Stitched Shape dies) fron another pattern from the same pack of DSP - the background colour is white and it has a floral pattern in Gray Granite. Underneath it is a Scalloped Circle (die cut from the Layering Circles dies) in Gray Granite.
I've added die cuts from the Forever Flourishing dies directly onto the circle. I've used Gray Granite, Whisper White and Vellum Cardstock for a nice mix of neutral colours and texture.
The sentiment is from the Prized Peony stamp set.
My second card features the colour Basic Gray. Like mt first card, the card base has been completely covered with Peony Garden DSP.
The stitched circle has a floral pattern with a background in white and Basic Gray flowers, underneath is a Scalloped Circle in Basic Gray.
For this card, I've used Basic Gray, Whisper White and Vellum Cardstock for the die cuts.
I picked up my pack of embellishments, whilst there are so many great options, the gold Gilded Gems were the perfect choice on this occasion.
The combination of grey and gold is just stunning, I'm so pleased Stampin' Up! added these to their embellishment offering as we were missing a metallic gold gem.
I've realised I'm fast developing a signature for my card designs. All of my cards have either a glossy, shiny or sparkly element. I just can't help it - it makes me happy!

Today I am breaking away from Christmas crafting - but only temporarily!
Here is my Trifold Mini Album which I am entering into this weeks Global Design Project #GDP268.
When you CASE the designer over at GDP you can "take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set - the colors, the layout, the theme, the images - whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own"

I've used absolutely loads of Stampin' Up! products to create this album! I usually like to stick to a suite or a bundle but for this project, I needed more choice.
I knew once Halloween was over I wanted to use the Magic in This Night patterned paper for a non Halloween project and here it is! What do you think? I bet you thought for a minute, where is that paper from?
I've paired the gorgeous black flowery patterned paper with Petal Pink cardstock and Petal Pink Organdy ribbon. This colour combo really works for me (it's actually the colours of my branding)
Inside the album, I have used the black flowery pattern again, along with the black stripey pattern - also from the Magic in This Night DSP. I used the Layering Circles dies to die cut scalloped squares from Petal Pink cardstock to sit underneath the DSP squares.
The Petal Pink flower pattern is from the Peony Garden DSP and I have added the Scalloped Ede using the Peony dies.
Who would have thought these two designer series papers would work so well together?
I embossed Whisper White cardstock with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder for the background for all three squares. I have added circle outlines die cut from Basis Black cardstock using the Layering Circle dies.
I have used the Well Said stamp set to pick three sentiments which are perfect for an album you are creating for your significant other. I used the Layering Ovals dies and Rectangle stitched dies to cut them out.
The flowers are from the Forever Blossom Stamp set and have been die cut with the Cherry Blossom dies. They have been lightly coloured with Petal Pink Stampin' Blends.
As a final touch I have added Champagne Basic Rhinestone Jewels
I created this album using directions created by Michelle Last - thank you! I don't understand why it's taken me so long to make a trifold album.... it is such a lovely project and I'll certainly be making one again!

I do love a bit of shimmer and sparkle so I've been playing with Stampin' Up! products and have used a new technique to come up with a pearlescent background with a hint of colour.
I usually try and stick to a bundle when creating my cards but today I've mixed it up.
I literally painted the colour onto Whisper White cardstock. To do this I mixed some of the Frost White Shimmer Paint with Seaside Spray.
The Seaside Spray ink refill will soon be available in the UK but I didn't let the fact I didn't have it stop me. I literally pressed my ink pad onto a teflon sheet and then added the Shimmer Paint to it and mixed it with a paintbrush.
I loved the effect I created but I wanted to take it further so I embossed the painted cardstock when it was fully dry with the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder.
As I always say, it can be difficult to capture in photographs the shimmer in my projects but I think it shows well in my photos. It's so beautiful - although a little extravagant . It certainly wouldn't be cost effective creating lots of these!
Using the Rectangle Stitched dies I die cut two rectangles and positioned these on my card using Dimensionals.
I die cut two leaves from the Forever Flourishing dies and glued them into position.
I then decided to then apply the White Shimmer Paint lightly over the leaves (although I now wish I did this before I adhered them - however, it was an afterthought ). I love white on white but I felt it needed a little extra something.
Next I cut a piece of vellum to fit underneath it and layered it onto my card using Mini Dimensionals carefully positioned underneath, so they couldn't be seen.
For the final touch I added two Clear Epoxy Droplets, into the centre of the diamonds. I lightly coloured them with Seaside Spray Blends but the effect is very subtle.
I know lots of people suggest using odd numbers when applying embellishments but I honestly think even numbers are okay when used in this way! I hope you agree?

To create my card, I've used the ever so useful Playful Alphabet dies to create a bold statement, die cutting the letters from Champagne Foil Sheets for that extra wow!
I've used the Foam Adhesive Sheets to adhere the letters to the card - they are a game changer! I've been hoarding them for a few weeks and I've just told myself to use them and I'm so glad I did! (I can buy more when they run out, right?)

I've also used bits and pieces from the Peony Garden Suite - the Prized Peony stamp set and Peony Dies, the Elegant Faceted Gems and the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder.
The colours of my card are from the Peony Garden Suite. I decided on a Gray Granite card base and a Basic Gray layer.
I picked up my Petal Pink Stampin' Blends to lightly colour in the flower and the Gray Granite Stampin' Blends to colour the twine.
The twine is from the Flowers for Every Season combo pack (with the misty moonlight thread removed - leaving the white twine and silver thread).

Classic Monochrome Thank You Cards featuring Peony Garden DSP from Stampin' Up!

I'm CASEing (copying) one of my own cards today!
I've simply changed the colours and patterned paper to make a batch of classic monochrome thank you cards, which I posted to my friends and family the week before last!
I'm entering this card into a sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. This is the Sketch!
I'm using the Peony Garden DSP again - I promise, I'm going to put this paper down for a while! Hopefully you can see why I keep using it? Just look how beautiful these floral patterns are!
I've used a different embossing folder on each of the three cards pictured together in the same colour - the Subtles, Tasteful Textile & Dainty Diamonds embossing folders.
The three colours I've used all feature within the Peony Garden DSP - Petal Pink, Basic Gray and Gray Granite - plus Whisper White of course!
I also die cut a stitched circle from the Stitched Shape dies, using the patterned paper.
The sentiment is from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. The font is classic and suits this card perfectly.
I die cut the swirly flower element from the Well Written dies and added these onto the patterned paper - for each card I've die cut 2 in Whisper White and 2 in the coordinating colour.
I added Rhinestones to the centre of each flower to add a bit of sparkle!
I stamped the sentiment in Versamark onto the coordinating colour cardstock, applied white embossing powder and set it with my heat tool. I then die cut it with a Stitched Nested Label. I added some dimensional foam pads to the back and adhered it in the centre of the circle.

For this card I have predominately used the colour Petal Pink, adding accents of Basic Gray and Whisper White.
Did you know you can heat emboss onto the Stampin' Up! foil sheets? Well you totally can and it looks great!
I stamped the 'Love and thanks to a dear friend' sentiment from the Prized Peony stamp set in Versamark Ink onto the Silver Foil sheet. I then added white embossing powder and used my heat tool to heat emboss it.
Just make sure you use your embossing buddy before stamping! After the heat embossing has set, you can carefully wipe the foil sheet with a baby wipe to remove the powder residue from your embossing buddy.
For this card, I've mainly used Gray Granite and have added elements of Basic Black, Whisper White and Champagne Foil sheets.
Stampin' Up! added Gray Granite into the colour pool a few years ago. I really wasn't sure we needed another grey colour in addition to Smoky Slate and Basic Gray, but they were totally right - they know their stuff! It's a beautiful subtle, classy colour that pairs perfectly with the Champagne foil sheets.
Blushing Bride is my second favourite Stampin' Up! colour (right behind Pool Party). Whilst this colour does not feature in the Peony Garden suite, I was able to pair this colour with the Basic Gray patterned DSP. I've also used Basic Gray and Whisper White cardstock and the Silver Foil sheets again.
If you have the Peony Garden DSP, why not try mixing it with colours that do not feature in the suite?

- Layer 2 - 8.4 cm x 12.8 cm
- Layer 3 - 8.0 cm x 12.4 cm (video states 8.1 cm incorrectly)
